After a couple of stormy days, the rain held off on Saturday 5 September 2026 for our return to one of our favourite venues, 114 on Waterhouse in Benoni. It was a grey, windy day, but that didn’t take anything away from the atmosphere – or from the wine.
A better flow, and music in two spaces
A newly refreshed layout gave the festival a much better flow this year. Rewind kept the crowd entertained with classic favourites in the main front area, while a one-man band added a more intimate feel in the private space behind the main building.
Turnout was a touch quieter than our last event, most likely down to the weather, but that made for an even better experience for everyone who came along.
The wine estates pouring on the day
From Franschhoek and the Hemel-en-Aarde Valley to the Swartland, the tables at 114 on Waterhouse carried wines from across the Cape. The estates and wine brands pouring included:
- Anura
- Ataraxia
- Creation
- Eikendal
- Grumpy Pug Wines
- Hartenberg
- Hidden Valley Wines
- Jordan
- Juno (Cape Wine Company)
- Lanzerac
- Longridge
- Mont Rochelle
- Val Di Terra
- Vinimark
- Vrede en Lust
- Weltevrede
- Zardetto
There was a good dose of goodwill too, with the Pug Rescue stand collecting donations on the day.
More than wine
Between tastings there was plenty to snack on and browse. Lorian’s Cheeses cut wedges to order, Mac & Key brought their roasted macadamias, and Chocolate & Coffee Comforts had their hot chocolate treats on the table. Riedel showed off its wine glasses and decanters, a Beer, Gin & Tequila bar catered for anyone wanting a change from wine, and the food trucks kept everyone fed.
The VIP experience
Our VIP guests enjoyed a newly sectioned-off area to the right of the venue, with great views over the whole festival and the band. Every VIP ticket included a BEN VINO hat, a cheese platter and a bottle of wine.
